The due process of law must be strictly followed, and judicial review must be applied to all demands made by law enforcement.

While we acknowledge the legitimate needs of law enforcement agencies to investigate criminal and terrorist activities, and while we support them when they adhere to legal protections for doing so, we oppose law enforcement that would mandate or forbid security or encryption technology since it would undermine the security of the goods, systems, or services our customers use, whether they be individuals or businesses.

Requirements from Non-Jurisdictions

is registered and operates in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the PRC, where several laws, such as the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance, restrict companies from providing certain types of information (such as the content of communications) to any individual or entity outside of Hong Kong. While in some cases it may not be improper to provide basic subscriber information pursuant to non-Hong Kong legal proceedings that follow due process principles, we generally believe that the best way for non-Hong Kong authorities to do so for the time being is to make a request to us through the courts as required by a Mutual Legal Assistance Agreement (MLAT). will not provide such information without consulting with its attorneys and experts and being advised that it is a lawful and reasonable request.
